I Blame Coco (Eliot Sumner)

Yah, yah, yah, she's Sting's daughter. Blah, blah, blah she sounds like Sting (ya think?). Eliot Summer shines all on her own. If she was on American Idol Judge Randy Jackson would be screaming "Eliot's in it to win it!!" Virtually unknown in the U.S., Eliot and her band I Blame Coco are turning heads and generating some well deserved buzz in her native England. As of this writing, you cannot buy her break out CD (I Blame Coco)on iTunes in the U.S., but it is available in the U.K. So check her out here, first, before everybody starts blaming Coco! Warning: Make no mistake - Eliot does not wade in the shallow end of the singer/songwriter pool. Her lyrics compel the listener to pay attention or else!

I Blame Coco

Eliot began playing music at a young age and writing songs at the age 15. Some of her earlier demos include "I Blame Coco", "Look The Other Way", "Bohemian Love", "Darkstar", "Never Be", "Voice In My Head", "Avion", and "No Smile" (A song which would later appear on her album, The Constant), many of which were imbued with a heavy reggae influence and elements of pop punk. The song "I Blame Coco", which was co-written with Mr Hudson, was released independently as a 7" single in 2007. The band includes Jonny Mott - Keyboards, Alexis Nunez - Drums, Jonas Jalhay - Guitar and Rory Andrew - Bass.

At age 17, Eliot signed a multi-record deal with Island Records. Eliot spent 6 months writing and recording her debut album The Constant in Sweden with one of her two producers, Klas Åhlund. I Blame Coco's debut single for Island, "Caesar", featuring Robyn, was released in February 2010. Eliot released her follow up single entitled "Self Machine" on July 12, 2010.

I Blame Coco is frequently seen using the meaningless alternate spelling I Blåme Coco, incorporating the Scandinavian vowel å, pronounced as the English "o" or "au" as in the word "vault".
